Privacy Policy

Who we are

Consumer Rescue is an organization founded by consumer advocate and ombudsman columnist Michelle Couch-Friedman. Our team’s mission is to help travelers and other consumers resolve problems between themselves and the companies they patronize. We do not sell anything — including your data. If you choose to voluntarily submit your personal information to this site to be considered for personalized assistance, your name and information can be used in a published article detailing your experience and our effort to assist you. Additional information is provided to you at the time of your request.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help detect spam.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we will collect your email and the name you provide. We will use that information only to send you the Consumer Rescue newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time. We will never share our newsletter list with any third party.

Advertising policy

Everything on the Consumer Rescue site is free for our readers, including our direct consumer-to-business mediation service and customer service human contact finder.

We make most of our revenue via display ads on our site, which are served through Google Adsense and third-party merchants. These ads are meant to be aligned with our readers’ interests and be as unobtrusive as possible. Each ad is marked as an advertisement.

Please only click on an advertisement on the site if you are actually interested in the product or service.

We have personalized our ads on this site to reflect what we believe are our audience’s interests. However, from time to time, a vendor might circumvent our requests and place an advertisement that readers (and our team) find objectionable. If you find an ad offensive, please send your complaint to Michelle to request that we consider it for removal.

Please review our advertising policy for additional information.

Cookies

Google and third-party vendors use cookies to show relevant ads to you on our site (where permitted). If you are in an area that requires your permission to use cookies, you will be given the option to opt out or to consent when you land on a page with these types of ads. Here is Consumer Rescue’s cookie policy.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a public comment on the site, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
